America the Beautiful

June has gone and in comes July with all it’s patriotic fervor. This weeks happening s included a Friday June 30 gig at the Kilcar with Rod Choppy on guitar and me on bass. The unusual line up was due to Nick (International Artist) was in Canada with the Jimmy Kelly Band for an Irish Fest ,check his blog for all the sorid details . I was slightly nervous about playing bass all night ,not having done that in a year and a half. On Friday there was a reprieve when Dan from Sticky Sweet showed up , sat in and stayed on the bass for the second half of the night. Thanks again to Dan, a true talent and a hellava nice guy. July started with a private party in Voorhesville for a lovely couple and the band included Dan from Rant and Rave on drums along with Rod.
The Fourth of July I played a solo at a very nice home in Coxsackie right on the river. The Hudson river is one of the most beatiful sights and a national treasure. On a break I phoned up the wife and as we spoke I saw an Eagle zoom across the water. How’s that for the American experience. The next night I was in Lake George for another solo and was struck by it’s beauty, the Queen of American lakes to quote Thomas Jefferson ( Wheezy’s husband for you history buffs).
This week coming the band returns to the Garden Grill on Friday July 7 and The Desmond on July 8. Gary 7 fills the drum chair all weekend and Brian Fitz show up Sat to play some guitar, Check the dates page for all the details
We take for granted many things in this country of ours such as our freedoms, rights and natural resources. Like they say about your health, just ignore and you won’t have to worry about it any more.
