JUNE'S HERE, BRING ON THE SUMMER
Saturday June 3 found the band celebrating the grand reopening of the Garden Grill. It was a weekend long party slightly hampered by the rain but still undaunted in it exuberance. The Grill looks great with many renovations from top to bottom. To fully appreciate one must visit and take in the new found glory that is the Garden. So how was the gig you ask ? Well we split the difference between the 4-8 and the 8-12 shift and started at 6pm and left around midnight. The second band bailed but it all worked out with our friends Mark Jones and Gary Piambino with Loretta filling in the space and join us on stage. The band played well an pulled several out of the proverbial hat and much drink an merriment was had. The pictures on the web site of this show are up and can be compared to the old photos and look of the Garden. We are looking forward to the other dates at the Garden this summer.
Last weekends gigs began with a solo show at Keilty’s Emerald Isle. The bar is under new management and has eliminated most of the rif raff. The first words outta the owners gob are “ ain’t gonna be loud, are ya? “. I played a very controlled first set and threw in some obscure songs, long dormant numbers and even a few originals. Nick and Bill Hunter showed up just to reassure me that someone else is having a lamer Friday night than me. The second set was actually fun, I played the old Carson bit of stump the band. If you can fake even a few bars of a requested song the people are so grateful, as if the shear love for that song inspired me to play it. AS IF !
Now the Saturday night was another story, a short ,sad , poorly thought out and barely compensated kinda story. Now I have starred in that story before but I was hopping for more of a Robert Taylor leading man kinda story. That’s it, I am so firing my agent.
What in store for this coming week you ask? Thursday, June 22 I’ll be at Yani’s Too for a solo show on the deck and again the following Thursday June 29. Friday will be a busy twofer with a 6:30 Happy Hour at the Union Inn in The Electric City and then I’ll fly back to the Capitol City for an evening show at McGearys with Jimmy and Dennis Kelly and Nick. That should be a blast and I’m only talking the fun the band will have, if you show up you have to make your own fun. I can’t be responsible for evryone happiness.
Check the dates page for all the times., locations and phone numbers.
Until we meet again, Geo
