LATE JAN 2006
GLAD TO BE UP AND RUNNING
The site has begun it’s long over due renovation. Look for changes coming in the next few weeks. Hoping to have the photo page updated regularly with pix of our friends and the band. Looking forward to posting MP3’s of both original and classic songs and having the Bio pages updated to included the 38 people who have played in this band over the years.
Check the dates, you’ll find them not only current, (and I mean up to the minute) but in a new, easier on the eyes format and includes info on who is playing. The home page will be the spot for the latest in band news and I promise to hold the political rants to a minimum. So the first entry is a recap of the year of our lord, 2005.
We celebrated New Years Eve with the Catskills Elks and played what would be the last Geo and the Komrades gig as a trio with the line up of Geo, Tommy and Kenny. The rest of January consisted of a few solo outings for Geo, a duo gig at The Garden Grill and a very cold eveing at Franklin’s Tower , when the temp was well below zero and the customers numbered just above zero.
In February we played at the Orchard and that marked the first official time that Nick Bisanz held down the bottom for the band. Nick came highly recommended from Gary 7 (nee Nowik), a once, future past participle member.
We continued to play a regular gig at Savannah’s in Albany, one Friday per month since the fall and slowly began to work Nick in to the show. We played our first full four piece electric show at Savannah’s when we filled in for the evening act that had canceled. Again on Gary 7’s word we used Mike Tremonti on lead guitar and all went swimmingly.
March and April was more of the same, a solo here and a duo there an when we could we’d bring Nick in. The summer was on the way with several gigs that required a full electric rock and roll show .
The line up thru the summer consisted of Geo on electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and vocal, Kenny or Gary 7 on drums and Nick on bass. The lead guitar chair was occupied by a variety of players, including our old mate Tommy Wiley, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Tremonti and Bobby Van Detta.
All in all the summer went extremely well with fun had by all and we graced the stage at such venues as The Desmond, The Copperfield Inn, Hagger’s Harbor, The Cairo Town Music Series and other fine establishments
As the fall rolled around the bigger warm weather shows began to dwindle and we continued on as a trio. Geo was playing more electric guitar and the band was moving towards a rocking /dance sound and less acoustic based material. The new line up enables us to expand and contract the band, work with new and creative people, add new material to a set list that doubled in the last year.
It brings us back to New Years 2006 again spent entertaining the BPOE in Catskill, this year as a quartet full of new song and new energy. I want to thank all the above mentioned players and their contribution to my little dog and pony show. I also want to thanks my neighbor and friend John Drury for all his effort here on the web site.
Check this spot as I hope to add to, dare I say my blog, on a regular basis.
Peace, Love and Togetherness,
Geo
